Subscription-based Trade Journal & Events Organiser

Overview

InsuranceAsia News is a leading trade journal and events organiser in the Asian reinsurance industry space. In 2018 they approached us — having outgrown their previous site.

With thousands of articles and tens of thousands of pageviews a month, the system was struggling to perform to the expectations of users and the editorial and admin staff.

We were commissioned to review the design, information architecture, and server performance aspects of the site, as well as build new functionality for managing awards, events, subscriptions, and daily newsletters.

The details

This business has many moving parts. We audited the existing articles and categorisation to devise a way to migrate thousands of articles into a new robust taxonomy that would serve the needs of editorial for years to come.

We integrated the various third-party components such as the newsletter system, ad serving & video delivery platforms.

We built bespoke sections for creating, managing, and taking applications for future Awards events and annual conferences.

In 2020 the audience and reputation had grown to the point where the business was ready to move to a subscription-based platform, so we integrated a paywall system that handles free trials, and individual & corporate subscriptions, all tightly-integrated with a CRM, segmented newsletters, online payments, and their existing print delivery database.

As an ongoing client with continuous improvements in the pipeline, in 2021 we launched a companies directory and a section for bespoke longform reports.
